Tonight I transform...

into City Momma! Actually, I should say City Girl because I won't really even have to be a Momma tonight. I am heading back into The City to hang out with one of my bestest girlfriends (Joanie) there. I will also get to see my old house, it's construction progress and if it's worthy, I'll take pictures to post on The Blog.

We're planning on heading out somewhere very trendy and cosmopolitan for dinner where we'll proceed to act trendy and drink copious amounts of cosmopolitans. (or Stoli gimlets which I much prefer to cosmos.) We'll live it up for a few hours, possibly attracting the eye of several eligible gentlemen who will be heartbroken and shocked to learn that I am a 38 year old married mother of one. I hate to break their hearts in this way but at least Joanie is single, I can be her "wing girl". We'll stay out late realizing as we walk home, that Joanie's handbag is bulging with the phone numbers of all the eligible men we met and that we didn't have to pay for a single drink all night. That's how it used to be when I lived in The City. Really... why don't you believe me?

ha ha ha ha ha ha! Who am I kidding? It probably won't go down exactly like that but I do know that we'll have fun, lots of good girl talk and a few precious hours of forgetting the I am usually "The Momma" and a chance to just be myself. I'll try to take pictures if we're not having too much fun!

Enjoy your weekend my friends.

No more danger from me!

In 24-48 hours I will officially be (according to the Social Security Administration) CCMomma MarriedName as opposed to CCMomma  McMaiden name. I don't know how I've gone almost 14 years with this never being an issue. According to the SS Admin. I never changed my name on my card but since I've been married I've had at least seven different jobs, some full time and some part time. I've had jobs since "9-11" for large companies and this has never been a problem. Now, to teach swimming at my local Y for a little bit more than minimum wage, they're giving me a hard time. Silly, IMO! Anyway, it's taken care of. No more National Security threat from CCMomma, the country can rest easy again and worry about more important things like wars, presidential elections and the price of gas. Phew!

A special thanks to The Husband (CityDaddyCountryDaddy?) for going into work late so that I could get it all taken care of. Love you CCDaddy!

I'm beginning to think...

That I might just be too old for this look:

My mom always used to tell me that when I wear my hair up or back in an elastic, that I should cover it up. It's something that always stuck with me and therefore, I don't even go to the gym with a plain elastic band in my hair...honestly, I don't. I always use a ribbon or some kind of cute hair accessory.  Sometimes I wrap the hair around the pony tail and that looks really cute and stylish (at least IMO) but my hair is very silky and smooth and it doesn't stay neat looking all day because the elastic just slips out over time. I found hair elastics with rubber grips on them that stay put but then, my hair wrap, looks messy and doesn't cover it. So my issue is, am I too old, at 38, to be wearing a bow in my hair?  I like the way it looks  and I try not to make it a huge, big bow, just a cute bow to cover the hair elastic. Since I am a major ribbon whore and use it for my crafting, I have just about any kind of ribbon that I need to coordinate with an outfit so it always matches. I only do it on days that I'm dressed casual and just hanging out. I know it's silly and when I see another person with an uncovered hair rubber band, it doesn't really bother me (Ok, maybe a little) but I'm hoping people don't think I look like some old lady trying to be cute. It just makes me happy and I don't think that's so wrong... feel free to comment if you like, I can take it.
