Summertime and the Living is...

BUSY!

I don't know if anyone's actually wondered where I went, but basically, we've been doing a lot of this lately...

It's been a hot summer thus far and we've spent a lot of time poolside. I also started a new job at the Y, it's 7 to 9 AM for our summer camp, I help get kids out of the cars for our "express check-in" or I play with kids in the "parvilion" as The Son would say. It's fun but I hate getting up that early. Oh well, it's only for the summer.

I also started a couple new weight management groups, they're going well and I hope to have more in the Fall since The Son will be in school full time.

Speaking of The Son, he had a great school year and is really enjoying his days at summer camp. He also has a girlfriend. I think they're talking marriage. I have lots of things to update and when I'm not working or working out, or sunning at the pool, I'll be sure to do that!

Hope you're having a fantastic summer.

Wacky-tastic!

The Son is spending his mornings this week at another week of YMCA camp. This week's theme is WaCKy WeEk and he seems to be enjoying himself.

Monday's theme was Silly Socks. I made them with this week of camp in mind when I was running the Aquatic Adventures camp and we had a tie dye day. He was thrilled with them and they were perfect for Silly Sock day.

Yesterday's theme was Hilarious Hat day and this is the hat that we came up with.

The Son loved it and even called it "bug-tastic" (He has a tendency to use "tastic" whenever he really likes something. Things around here can be "shark-tastic", "chocolate-tastic", "dino-tastic"...you get the picture) It has all kinds of bugs glued to the front and the back. Evidently it was a bug or should I say big hit with the pre-school set at camp.

Now, I just have to say, I don't expect every mom (or dad) out there to go crazy like I did and make an over-the-top hat, but when the calendar for your kid's camp says "Hilarious Hat Day" don't you at least think you could put a hat on the poor kid's head? Come on. I noticed that some of the kids had no hats yesterday and I felt bad for them. The Son has been looking forward to this day for weeks and I thought it sounded like so much fun and then other kids didn't even get to do it. I really thought more parents would embrace it and help their kids have something fun but no, I was wrong. In fact, one of the teachers didn't even wear a hat. I was  a little irritated by that but whatever at least my guy had a good time.

Today they are singing silly songs with Sue, whoever that is, and tomorrow is backwards day. That should be fun. Friday is Pajama Jam and we already have his shark-tastic pjs picked out for that day.

Last but not least, I want to thank Julia from Hooked on Houses for hosting house-tastic tours yesterday. I had my most comments ever and found a lot of other great blogs to continue reading. I haven't even completed all my tours yet but look forward to taking a couple more today.

I'm working tonight everyone...pray for thunder. ;)

The ladies are coming over tonight.

I'm finished! HIP HIP HOORAY!

My friends Lynn and Fabienne are coming over tonight to scrapbook/make cards and to just hang out. (Go here to my sister's blog if you want to read more about our obsession with scrapbooking)  There will be wine and there will be girl talk and I will be relaxing, not talking to campers. The only child I will have to see tonight is the one that belongs to me, I love him so I am happy.

It's  HOT one out there today, I just got finished watering our flowers and I'm going to take a shower, put on make-up and try to look relatively pretty since I've been a sweaty, chlorinated hot mess for two weeks. (Isn't that a great image?)

The Husband says he has a present for me for our anniversary which is on Wednesday. Fourteen years! Wow! He asked me if I want to wait until Wednesday or have him give me my present tonight. Don't you think that's a silly question? I'll let you know what I get.

Off to take that nice shower now!

Choirs of angels...

are singing this morning because it is The Last Day of Aquatic Adventures Camp! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I won't have to eat one more "South Beach" wrap for lunch any time soon, I won't have to spend all day reminding the little red-headed girl to put on more sunscreen, I won't have to break up any more water gun fights with kids who are mad because they got shot with water. (Uh hello, don't play if you don't want to get wet!) I won't have to explain to the annoying kid why he can't get mad when "the shark" turns him from a minnow into a shark and that if he doesn't want to get tagged then he shouldn't play, I won't have to rush out the door in the morning to make sure I'm there for camp opening at 9 AM, and last but certainly not least, I won't be missing The Son from 9AM until 4PM (or later) every day. Things will be returning to my semi-blissful SAHM(ish) days as of 4PM this afternoon. Hallelujah!

Remember back when I was excited to do this camp? What was I thinking? Truth be told, I will miss some of the kids and it was fun (most of the time) but I really am glad it's done! Phew.

Where I'll be...

I had great intentions, I was going to get a couple more posts all ready for you and have them set to post for the next three days, my LAST three days of camp. I even had pictures of our pool set to post, but those won't work either and I have to be at work in 45 minutes...still in my jammies ooops! But last evening The Son had a "difficult moment" and none of the things I wanted to happen happened. Being a mom is hard. Just when you think your kid is great and does all (or most of) the things you want him to do, he turns on you and shatters your belief of how great a mom you are. Anyway... three more days of camp. I'll be in the pool should anyone need me.

(Please hum the tune, "She Works Hard for the Money" quietly to yourselves now...I'll try to be back to "normal" soon.)
