Swimming fun!

I took some cute pictures of The Son the other night after I taught swim lessons. I teach from 4:00 to 5:30 and then I get a 15 minute break. At that time, I get The Son from Kids' Corner and put his swimsuit on him and he swims in the shallow part of the pool for an hour while I teach two more lessons. After that we swim together for a half an hour or so and do a couple reviews of things he's working on for swimming. Rest assured for those of you who have read my "life saving" story, I can see The Son the whole time I'm teaching AND the pool is roped off so children cannot go to an area that's deeper than 2.5 feet. They also have to be a certain level in swim lessons to swim with out a parent and The Son is at that level.

Anyway, we took a few pictures the other night and I think they came out really funny and cute. We were laughing our heads off as I took them. Some are a little blurry perhaps, but they're "action shots" so you'll have to excuse it.

This is the look I got when I said it was time to go. He loves to stay in the pool but 3.5 hours in the water is MORE than enough for this Momma!

When we leave swimming, to get to the locker room, we have to go past the Upper Pool at our Y where they are having a water aerobics class. The Son LOVES to watch this class and will "help" the teacher in her teaching of it. I had to take pictures because it's hilarious! I have mentioned before that this boy is NOT shy, haven't I? The ladies in the class get a kick out of their little instructor... it's so sweet!

Well everyone, I hope you're all having a great weekend. We're looking forward to a Parent's Night Out tonight and some yummy food sans The Son. He loves PNO at the Y so he's excited about it too. Enjoy!

I saved a life.

Well, you may have noticed that I haven't been blogging much as of late. I've just been kind of not in the blog mood, it happens to the best of us, right? Well, after last night, I have something to blog about for sure!

I saved a life last night after teaching swimming lessons! Really, I did. I teach until 6:45 on Wednesday nights and my son gets in the pool to swim at 5:30 while I teach lessons. After I finish, The Son and I swim together for another half hour or so, having fun, doing mini lessons, (He's getting REALLY good) basically just goofing around. So, last night, we're playing and we were doing the "frog song" with another bunch of little boys. It basically just involves me singing this very annoying cute song about frogs on a log jumping into the pool. The. Kids. Love. It. We played that for a while and then The Son and I went to the deeper end to practice his actual swimming. I don't know how long he was swimming when I noticed that one of the little boys who was playing "frogs" with us, and who is actually one of my very beginning swim students was behind me in the deep end, barely struggling to get his head out of the water to take a breath every few seconds. I FREAKED out! I grabbed The Son because he can't stand there either and then grabbed the struggling boy who clung onto me for dear life. He's been scared in swimming lessons as it is, I don't think this is going to help him. After I rescued him, I had both boys, one on each hip, I had to point out to the "lifeguards" what had happened. The were both young teen boys, one blonde and one brunette. I turn to Mr. Blonde and scream, "This kid is over here, practically drowning and no one is paying any attention to him!" Mr. Blonde says to me in a really snotty way ....wait for it...wait for it...

"I'm not responsible for that side of the pool."

Well, you can imagine how livid I was at that response, I said, "OK, well, when he drowns, you be sure to tell that to his mother!"

I then told the "lifeguard" on the other side of the pool, (I guess he's the one who was "responsible") Mr. Brunette, just looked kind of shocked and dumbfounded at what had happened but at least he didn't have a snotty retort.

I dragged the little boys over to the shallow end and told them to play there. I then went and talked to the supervisor of the lifeguards. I was so upset and angry that I was shaking and I'm sure I didn't make a pretty picture standing there freaking out in my dripping wet swimsuit but I don't really care.

I am more than likely to be persona non grata with the lifeguards but I don't need a bunch if 17 year old kids as friends anyway, the adult guards will understand. Also let me say that the incident wouldn't have happened with most of the guards we have, at least I don't believe that it would have.

I got back in the pool with The Son and we played for a little while longer after I had shown the other boy where it was safe for him to play. It was an exciting night to say the least. I'm so glad that no one was hurt and that I was able to help the child.  Who knows what would have happened if I hadn't been. Poor kid, he's one of my favorite students and I really hope this doesn't set him back.

Oh! You also might ask where his mom was, she was on the pool deck reading. I won't even go into that because I do like the woman but you can make your own judgments there.

Have a great day everyone, we're off to the pumpkin patch/apple orchard with some friends!

No thunder storm

Just so you know, there was no thunder storm last night. I had to teach ALL my lessons AND I have to water my plants. Blah.

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Did I ever tell you?

Did I ever mention that our INDOOR pool at the YMCA closes during a thunder storm? Well, it does and this summer, we've been having a lot of thunderstorms on Wednesday nights. That means we don't see the students all that much per session since the sessions are only 5 and 4 weeks. Last week we never even started out in the water since it started to storm at 3:55 and classes start at 4:00. We were able to have class from 5:45 - 6:15 and we started the 6:15 class but at 6:40 or so it started again and we were done for the night.

Not that I'm complaining of course.

Yes, I like teaching swimming but I also like sitting on the mezzanine talking to my co-workers while getting paid for it too. Which would you prefer? Is it bad to hope for storms?

So, it's well over 90 degrees here today, hot and humid, and they're calling for "evening thunderstorms" again. The parents are credited for a class that's missed but they still get annoyed. I decided to look it up to see if it's REALLY necessary for us to get out of the pool and found a few different things. Most people say, "better safe than sorry" but the fact is that there has NEVER been a death reported from lightening striking an indoor pool.

I'll have to mention it at work to see if anyone else has heard anything different. Not that I'm going to try and change it, it's a national YMCA rule after all.

Here's a picture of the pool from last week when we got rained out. These were taken right before we went in for our 5:45 class, you can see the sun shining through the windows.

So, keep your fingers crossed for us tonight...

Sunday Social.

Another busy day here in Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania! Could we ever have a weekend with nothing scheduled? I doubt it. Today we're going to a "reverse surprise party" for my boss Cheryl at the Y. Her husband has retired and wants to move to Rhode Island and unfortunately, she's decided she has to go with him. I guess 30 some years of marriage will do that to you. ;) Anyway, I say "reverse surprise party" because she will already be at the house where the party  is being held (for a meeting with senior teachers) and we are all just going to show up there. It should be a lot of fun. I'm sad to see her leave, she's a really good person, great with the kids and a very encouraging and understanding boss. She's taught me everything I know...about teaching swimming that is.

The Husband will finally be able to meet lots of the people I work with, The Son of course already knows them all. My boss recently told me I was turning him into a "Y-Brat" but she meant it in a good way. I know The Son enjoys being a part of the Y family and in all honesty, I do too. It's  a good place to work!

I'm taking my famous deviled eggs to share and I might even decide to be brave and post a tutorial, revealing my very complicated secret deviled egg recipe just as long as no one in my real life circle of friends EVER steals it and decides to bring them to a party we will both be attending. There will be deviled egg hell to pay if that ever happens.

I'm off to start boiling eggs! Have a good Sunday everyone!

Busy me and it's not even 3!

I am really enjoying my day "off" today...well, not really off but no camp so I feel relaxed. The Son and I have deemed this week, "Momma/Son Camp. He's really excited about it but in all honesty, it doesn't mean much more than our normal routine and a special trip or project here and there. Here's what's been on the agenda so far today. I got up early and went to the Y to work out. I came back and showered and got The Son ready to go to karate at 10, he had tap class at the Y at 11:30 (it's just a week long intro class) but we stopped at the "Pets & Friends" store before that class. I went to the swim instructor's room and got my rosters, attendance sheets and progress reports filled out for the upcoming four-week session while The Son went to tap. After tap, we went out to lunch "on a date" as The Son says. He wanted to stop at Starbucks after our lunch and I didn't argue because I love me some Starbucks. He likes to sit at the bar area and watch them make the frozen drinks. He had a cookie and I had a skim milk mocha with no whip. Yummmmm...

We just got home and took Ziggy out for a little walk with his new pinch collar. Let me tell you, I *heart* the pinch collar. Ziggy doesn't feel the same way about it but he walks a heck of a lot better and doesn't pull on the leash now like he did. He's a strong puppy and I had to nip that yanking in the bud...and fast! He's gnawing on a filled bone right now and I'm here posting. I have to organize my stuff and leave for the Y again at 3:30. I teach swimming from 4-7 and The Son has a lesson at 6:15. We'll shower and get jammies on him at the Y and then come home for dinner and bed.

Phew...I'm tired just reading all that.

I have some good posts planned for the week, I just have to upload the pictures. Stay tuned for pictures of my scrapping evening on Friday, pictures of a new Amish farm I found (don't tell Amish Man) and my Bastille Day party pictures.

Tomorrow we're trying a new Y pool with some friends so I'll probably have pictures of that too. Enjoy the rest of your day!

The ladies are coming over tonight.

I'm finished! HIP HIP HOORAY!

My friends Lynn and Fabienne are coming over tonight to scrapbook/make cards and to just hang out. (Go here to my sister's blog if you want to read more about our obsession with scrapbooking)  There will be wine and there will be girl talk and I will be relaxing, not talking to campers. The only child I will have to see tonight is the one that belongs to me, I love him so I am happy.

It's  HOT one out there today, I just got finished watering our flowers and I'm going to take a shower, put on make-up and try to look relatively pretty since I've been a sweaty, chlorinated hot mess for two weeks. (Isn't that a great image?)

The Husband says he has a present for me for our anniversary which is on Wednesday. Fourteen years! Wow! He asked me if I want to wait until Wednesday or have him give me my present tonight. Don't you think that's a silly question? I'll let you know what I get.

Off to take that nice shower now!

Choirs of angels...

are singing this morning because it is The Last Day of Aquatic Adventures Camp! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I won't have to eat one more "South Beach" wrap for lunch any time soon, I won't have to spend all day reminding the little red-headed girl to put on more sunscreen, I won't have to break up any more water gun fights with kids who are mad because they got shot with water. (Uh hello, don't play if you don't want to get wet!) I won't have to explain to the annoying kid why he can't get mad when "the shark" turns him from a minnow into a shark and that if he doesn't want to get tagged then he shouldn't play, I won't have to rush out the door in the morning to make sure I'm there for camp opening at 9 AM, and last but certainly not least, I won't be missing The Son from 9AM until 4PM (or later) every day. Things will be returning to my semi-blissful SAHM(ish) days as of 4PM this afternoon. Hallelujah!

Remember back when I was excited to do this camp? What was I thinking? Truth be told, I will miss some of the kids and it was fun (most of the time) but I really am glad it's done! Phew.

Where I'll be...

I had great intentions, I was going to get a couple more posts all ready for you and have them set to post for the next three days, my LAST three days of camp. I even had pictures of our pool set to post, but those won't work either and I have to be at work in 45 minutes...still in my jammies ooops! But last evening The Son had a "difficult moment" and none of the things I wanted to happen happened. Being a mom is hard. Just when you think your kid is great and does all (or most of) the things you want him to do, he turns on you and shatters your belief of how great a mom you are. Anyway... three more days of camp. I'll be in the pool should anyone need me.

(Please hum the tune, "She Works Hard for the Money" quietly to yourselves now...I'll try to be back to "normal" soon.)

One week down...

and one more to go!

My first week of summer camp is over! It went pretty well. The kids were 1st through 6th grade, with the majority of them falling in the middle grades of that range. Most of the kids were very sweet and cooperative but I had two boys who I thought would be the death of me by the end of the week. BRATS with a capital "B"  I tell you! They were brothers and they were the most miserable kids I have EVER met and I've met a lot of kids. You could have told these two that you were taking them on a shopping spree to Toys R Us and they would have responded with, "I hate Toys R Us!" A trip to Disney World would have been met with, "I hate Disney World" so when I wanted them to swim relay races or play kickball (with baby pools as bases) you can imagine that didn't go over well. It really makes you wonder what goes on at home with those two, either the parents spoil WAY too much, or don't spend enough time with the kids, perhaps it's a little of both. Anyway, I'm glad to report that they won't be a part of my camp next week.

A few other things that surprised me are the things these kids get in their lunches. I'll have to devote a whole post to that. There were some unhealthy lunches for sure! I was very surprised.

All in all, it was not a bad week, I missed The Son A LOT and I'm very happy that I get to be a SAHM, well besides my regular six hours a week of teaching swimming. I'm heading out this evening for a fun night with my friend Lynn. I think we're going shopping. We wanted to see "Sex and the City" but it's not playing anywhere around here. I guess that's what we get for living in the country. I just can't wait to do my hair and put on make-up and semi-cute clothes after a whole week of being in shorts, t-shirt and swimsuit. I'm rocking a pretty nice tan too after this week. (Well, it's tan for ME...I don't really tan) It will be nice to NOT look like a hot mess for a change.

Enjoy your Friday evenings everyone!

I just realized...

that starting next week, I will be working full-time for two weeks straight! It will be the first time in four and a half years that I have worked full-time. I've had part-time jobs like working at Gymboree (the store, not the play place) and of course my swim instruction. This will be a full 40 hours of running an Aquatic Adventures summer camp for the YMCA. They asked me about a month ago when the previous person who was running it, dropped out. (I thought I blogged about it before but I guess I didn't because I can't find it when I look back, must have just been something I told "The Girls" on my message board about) The description for my camp says: "A wet and wild week of fun in July! Skilled YMCA instructors (that's me and the rest of the staff) guide your child through pool challenges, games and aquatic skills. Campers must be comfortable in the water and ready to swim every day. Not for beginning swimmers. Camp includes a trip to a [local water park.]" I didn't think of it as a job per se because I'm really looking forward to it and I plan on having fun. I already planned it and I have assistant counselors and lifeguards working with me so I don't think the "work" part will be all that difficult. I am sure I'll be tired at the end of the day though. Not that that's a bad thing.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I will have to work at the camp from 8:30 - 4:00 and then go to my "real" job of swim instructor from 4:00 - 7:00 fortunately, I have very easy dinners planned for those evenings. The Husband will help me too, he always does.

The Son will be going to  pre-school summer camp, also at the Y. It's really one of the only reasons I agreed to do this job because we'll be in the same place, he'll be in a place I know he likes and a place that I trust. I am sure it will be an adjustment for us both though. I wouldn't be able to do it if it was much more than two weeks. I enjoy my "free" time and the time The Son and I get to spend together.

So anyway, for the rest of the weekend, we're hanging out at home, running errands (gym, library, grocery, Amish Man) and dare I say working on some craft projects? My Dad is coming over for dinner this evening and I'm picking up corn from my friend, The Amish Man. I definitely get my love of corn from My Dad. He's a corn connoisseur. I hope my Amish Man's corn doesn't disappoint. OH! and I did get to make those blueberry muffins I mentioned in a previous post. I will buy more Amish blueberries today if he has them, the muffins were delish!

We have a "cake and cocktails" birthday party to attend tomorrow in our neighborhood. Alden's little friend that we went to Dutch Wonderland with yesterday is turning 5. The aforementioned craft project will be making a card for the birthday boy. I'll post a picture of it for sure.

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I know I am.

Got lots to do!

I've been very busy today. Woke up early took The Son to Karate, stopped by my Amish Man's booth to buy corn and fresh blueberries, headed for the Y to pick up a pay check, headed to the bank to deposit said pay check, headed home, balanced my checkbook, e-mailed my boss for Aquatic Adventures camp for the next two weeks, checked up on and commented on some of my favorite blogs, came to this blog to do this rambling post.

(My neighbor girls are here entertaining my puppy and The Son... LOVE those girls!)

Now I'm about to order some more bathing suits on line, go have lunch with The Son, get ready for the pool, head to the Y for a few hours of fun for The Son, lesson planning for me, shower up The Son, take him to the Kids' Corner at the Y, go to work to teach swimming from 4-7, shower up myself, come home and FINALLY eat that corn I've been thinking of since I bought it this morning. Phew...

I'd like to bake some blueberry muffins for breakfast tomorrow morning too but we'll see if that actually happens. I'm tired just thinking about all this.

Swimming is hard.

I went swimming today for two hours! Yep, two hours! It was fun but hard. I plan on continuing because I know it's got to be good for me, most things that are hard are good for you, right? I am taking a swim lesson at the Y where I work. Yes, I teach swimming but I teach it to little, little kids, babies practically. Some of my students are in fact babies so my main objective is getting them used to the water and teaching them not to drown. My boss recommended that the new swim instructors take lessons to refresh our swim skills and help us see how it is for our students to learn. I'm liking it thus far.

When I was a pre-teen/teen, I took swimming lessons. I remember riding my bike (no helmet, no pads, we didn't know about safety back in the day) to the LPRA before it officially opened to take them. Just so you know, LPRA stands for Levittown Public Recreation Association, we had some good times at that pool, good times... Anyway, I took a lot of lessons there, diving, swimming, all sorts of stuff. I was pretty good. I also took lessons in Jr. High because our school had a pool. Do they still do that today? I remember loving the swim lesson, especially when we had free swim but hating the fact that we only had a few minutes to get dressed, dry our hair and reapply our Cover Girl blue eyeshadow and Wet 'n Wild lip gloss. Not to mention getting that pesky "The Clicker" butane curling iron heated up to "re-feather" our hair. I know I'm digressing but what I'm trying to say is that I was a pretty decent swimmer, or so I thought.

Cut to today, we're working on the backstroke. Evidently, the swim instructors at the LPRA and at the Neshaminy public schools didn't know how to do the backstroke because I realized I never learned it. Sure, we did the elementary back stroke where you swim on your back like a frog but we never did THE Backstroke where you actually swim and do strokes while on your back. I had issues. I kept getting water up my nose when my arm came up and then I would choke and have to stop for a second or two, it was not a pretty sight, not pretty at all. Apparently, you have to rotate your body, flip your hand, kick your legs and move your arms in sync while not inhaling the water that washes up over you. I need a lot of practice.

After my class, I went up to "the big pool" and swam the length of the pool trying out my new backstroke "skills" as well as some freestyle we worked on last week. When I got tired I just did some Good Old-Fashioned Kicking with the kickboard. The pool is 25 yards in length and a mile is 1760 yards so I would have to do 70ish lengths to do a mile. I didn't come close to that but I bet I did somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 a mile, not too bad for my first try I think. Next time I'll count for sure. I like swimming because while I was doing it, my muscles didn't hurt and I felt really limber. I'm a little sore now though but I'm sure I'll get better as I do it more frequently, it's nice to add something new to my workout repertoire

Ok, I'm more than a "little sore". Where's the Advil?

Another busy one...

Unfortunately, I am not good at thinking up witty and/or profound blog posts as of late. So many of the women I read are always so clever and funny, not to mention cute. I guess I should be happy to have one out of those three things down. I'll leave it up to you to figure out which one it is. ;)

We're busy, busy, busy again today and I shouldn't be on here right now. I have a swimming lesson (one that I'm taking) at 9:15 and The Son has camp. I'm going to try to work out after the lesson, my cough seems to finally have subsided. (Worst Cold Ever.) My friend Fabienne is coming over with her kids this afternoon. She's French. From Paris. So having her as a friend makes me feel really international and worldly. She also likes to scrapbook and teaches swimming and her son is just a little older than my son and they love each other so it's all good. We're hoping our friend Lynn will also come, she's a French teacher. I know no French except for that "Lady Marmalade" song. We'll be all covered if I need to ask either one to go to bed with me. Usually they speak English around me though, they're considerate that way.

This weekend should be a little more relaxing then the past ones have been. Hope you're all having a great day out there in Blogland!

I haven't been able to blog too much lately...

because I've been very busy with this:

this:

and unfortunately, this:

Teaching swimming, taking The Son to camp and going to the pool in the afternoons causes a surprising amount of laundry. Perhaps I just need a few more beach towels? It's 10 AM and The Son is at camp right now, I'm doing this post and then I'll be going upstairs to give myself a pedicure and get all my stuff together to go to my friend Jen's house for a playgroup this afternoon and then I have work at 4. We won't be back home until after 7:00. It's going to be a busy day!

My  12 year old neighbor has officially been hired as Ziggy's puppysitter. She comes in a few times a day to play with him and take him out. She loves dogs and is really good with him. It makes me feel less guilty about being gone all day and she seems to enjoy it as well. Thank goodness for nice neighbors!

Speaking of neighbors, I just found out that one of my former neighbors, took her kids and left her husband. I was shocked to hear that but actually quite pleased that she's finally standing up for herself. As I know I've said before, many women I know aren't as blessed as I am when it comes to husbands. I know it sucks to "break up" a family but at the same time, it sucks to be treated like crap and to have your kids see it. I haven't talked to this neighbor since I moved but I'm really proud to hear what she's done even though I know it's got to be hard. I didn't think she had it in her! (and no, it's not who you're thinking Sister) I'll be thinking of you and your boys "Former Neighbor!"

Have a blogalicious day everyone!

Aquatic Adventures camp...

is almost planned. I've been working diligently since last night. I think I have put every water activity, game and or relay that would be appropriate for first through sixth graders in the camp. It should be a really good time. I turn it in to my boss tomorrow. I will resume regular blogging with pictures and such after that time.

Summer has arrived!

Well, maybe not according to the calendar but for us it's the "unofficial" start. Today was The Son's last day of preschool. We had a picnic at a local park to celebrate and it was lots of fun.  I was really pleased with his school this year which goes to show that a school that costs a lot of money isn't always better than one that doesn't. Last year The Son went to a nice little preschool in the city and it was what I consider pretty expensive, particularly for a preschool. There weren't a lot of other options however and I wasn't disappointed with the school as a whole. This year, when we were looking for schools. We looked in this area even though we hadn't moved yet because his old school was cost prohibitive if we weren't spending the whole year there. I called the YMCA preschool and they quoted me a price of $150 a month. I asked the Director if she meant $150 a week and I think she thought I was crazy! So, we promptly signed him up and commuted an HOUR each way on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for almost seven months! I just worked out at the Y while The Son was at school. It sucked but now I'm glad that we did it because we had friends, knew the area and it was much easier to settle in here. I'm just so happy with the YMCA, I doubt they're all as nice as ours but ours is just wonderful!

So, back to the summer, the Son will start camp in a few weeks and he's also enrolled in some fun enrichment classes. We'll be heading to the pool starting next week (since it's supposed to be in the 90s here already) and I'll continue to work out at the Y because I really do enjoy that.

I was also offered another job opportunity yesterday that is very "summery" and should be a lot of fun. I am going to run two weeks of the "Aquatic Adventures" camp. (at the Y of course) Apparently, the person who was in charge of it is no longer able to do it and the Director of the preschool knows my background (I've been a camp director and a teacher) and that I'm teaching swimming now and she asked if I'd be interested. It's not until July so I'll have a bit more time to get my swimming skills and swimming teaching skills in order. I'll have plenty of lifeguards and counselors working with me. Evidently, these weeks are the most popular two weeks of camp so I might be a popular lady at the Y. Kids generally like me and I expect this to make me really cool in their eyes! The camp is for grades 1 through 6 and the description is as follows:

A wet and wild week of fun in July! Skilled YMCA instructors (that's me) will guide your child through pool challenges, games and aquatic skills. Campers must be comfortable in the water and ready to swim every day. Not for beginning swimmers. Camp includes a trip to [a local water park]. (Yay! A water park!)

The Son was already enrolled for camp for one of those weeks so I'll probably just end up enrolling him for the second week as well. It still ends up that I'll make some good money though since I get a discount on his camp enrollments. I'll have to work 8:30 to 4:00 and then head right to my swim teaching job on Mondays and Wednesdays so I imagine I'll be pretty tired after two weeks of that but it should be a good, fun, tired. OOOOH, I'm getting excited already!

I'm going bathing suit shopping tomorrow. I hate that but I really need more than what I have now and I have to find suits with shorts that go over them so I need to start looking now. This is the only downside to the new job...oh well, at least I'll be having some fun this summer, even without a vacation.

Cards for the swim teachers.

I got the pictures uploaded today, I think they came out pretty cute. I still have a bunch of cards that I need to work on for the regular classroom teachers and I'll post them another day. Each of these card sets had four small (3.5 X 5) blank note cards and a little bag to keep them and the envelopes in. I made the bag on my Cricut machine...that thing rocks! The little card in the front of the bag is a note card from me. The Son decorated and made his own card that I also added. I think the teachers really liked them but I didn't see them open them because they didn't want to get into that right after getting out of the pool.

Here they are:

Almost forgot the swim teachers...

Today is The Son's last day of swimming. I've been working so hard on cards for his regular classroom teachers that I forgot about his swim teachers! He's actually the one who remembered and wanted to give something to them. I've been working really hard now for two days on a cute little set of note cards for them. I even made a bag with my cricut to put them in. They came out super cute and I know they will like them. He's decorating a card for them right now and I'll slide that in too. I am then going to put the whole thing securely in a ziploc bag since swim teachers are always wet! I should know, I am a swim teacher. How could I almost forget the SWIM TEACHERS?

I'll post pictures later because I'm really happy with what I came up with. I'm at the Y until this evening hope you're all having a blogtastic day!

In the pool tomorrow!

Everything is FINALLY figured out with all my paperwork. The Y has been convinced that I'm not an illegal alien. I am starting my training in the pool tomorrow at 9 AM.  That's early for me, I'm usually up but not ready to go anywhere or do anything. When am I going to check my e-mail, blogs and message boards? Maybe I should have thought this job thing through a little more seriously. It's kind of cool that I don't have to worry about hair and make-up though, that will be a first as far as jobs go for me.

The Husband will bring The Son to the Y Kids' Corner tomorrow when he leaves for work and I'll bring him home with me when I am finished at 11. On Friday though, I have to be in at 9 and The Son is going to have to come with me to go to Kids' Corner. I will also have to have lunch packed for the two of us, his school stuff, and my work out clothes as well as my regular clothes. It sounds like I should pack a suitcase, huh?

I don't make a whole lot of money an hour BUT I do get free child care so if I factor the cost of that in, it's not so bad. Also, I found out today that I will get an extra $55 a month toward our family Y membership AND 25% off on camp programs for The Son. That will definitely add up and be a nice little bonus. I hope I like it. I have a friend who just started too and she says it's kind of difficult to be in the water for three hours at a time but she seems to be enjoying it. I'll let you know how it goes.
