Adventures in Healthy Living
with CityMomma/CountryMomma
I'm getting there...slowly but surely. I lost another .8 pounds this week. That's pretty much a pound, right? My total is 24.4 and after losing almost 5 last week, I'm thrilled with the .8 this week. As long as the scale keeps going down, I'm motivated.
Last week in our class, we talked about personal slogans or mottos that help us to stay on track. Miss Phyllis asked us to come up with a our own motto and I thought of a couple. Last week I believe I mentioned the phrase, "small changes yield big results." I definitely keep that in the back of my mind on a week like this for instance when I didn't quite lose a pound. Our goal is to lose a pound a week but even losing just .8 pounds a week, at the end of the year, would equal over 40 pounds! That's the weight of The Son! That's a pretty big result.
I also think of the phrase, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels." I heard it years ago on one of my many different diets but it never really "took," now that I've changed my lifestyle, it's easier to keep that in mind. I know I still have a lot to lose but the fact that I'm feeling healthier than ever and stronger than ever really keeps me going. I don't even want all those "bad" foods that I used to eat out of nothing more than depression and boredom.
I also reached another milestone this week... no pun intended... I ran a full mile without stopping in less than 12 minutes! I know that's probably still considered pretty slow but it was something I honestly don't think I've ever achieved, not even in high school or college when I was thin. It was darn hard but I did it and I plan on trying 1.25 miles next. I still don't think I'll be able to run the entire 5K I want to do in May but there's no doubt that I'll complete it easily, that's for sure!
Well, I apologize for my rambling Friday post, I don't have much focus today, that's for sure. I've already been to the Y (800 calories burned + weights) and I'm taking The Son to school at 12:30. After that I'm going to come home and color my hair, (Momma may be getting healthy but she's still going grey!) and just have a little time to myself this afternoon. The Son and I might have a little Starbucks date after school today and The Husband is making his famous Healthy Shrimp Scampi with broccoli for dinner...yummy! Have a great Friday everyone and enjoy your weekend. Keep it healthy!

Congrats as usual!! Keep it up!
I love your mantras. I should write those down. I'm jumping back on my weight loss bicyle Monday. Congrats on your weight loss!
I love your slogans. I am going to keep them in mind too. Also congratulations on the weight loss.
You're doing great Caren! You lost 1/2 a pound and a lost is a lost! I'm going to have to get that shrimp recipe from you - but I'll probably won't be able to enjoy it as much as I would want too since I need to watch my cholesterol. Do you think farm raised shrimp have less cholesterol? I'm gonna have to Google that up! Anyways, good job mama!
You are doing awesome! I am seriously impressed with your running! WAY TO GO!
I should have remembered "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" when I was shoving doughnuts down my pie hole this weekend. :-)
GOOD for you! You are kicking butt (and losing butt, as it were. ;-).
