Momma's Little Helper

The Son will be "officially" four and a half in a couple weeks. He's very proud of this fact. I am just loving this age because for the most part, he is sweet, adorable and getting more independent (in a good way) by the day. Of course, kids are always frustrating and repeating myself seventeen times for him to do something (or not do something) can be irritating but I guess you have to take the good with the bad with these little guys, huh?

I want to share a few pictures of him helping me water our flowers. He's so cute with his wanting to help with everything these days. Obviously it takes longer when I let him "help" but he enjoys it so I try to find things he can do without me micro-managing too much. It's never good to micro-manage your four-year-old. Poor kid will grow up with a complex.

Enjoy the pictures and be sure to notice his trademark "mismatch crocs" he just loves to do that. Anyone who knows me will know it took me a LONG time to agree that this was acceptable, notice they don't even match the outfit he's wearing, again...a long time to agree that this was OK. I've got issues for sure but I'm trying to get over it. Now he's honestly known for his "mismatch" and people seem to get a kick out of it so I've embraced it whole-heartedly.

Gotta love him...

Dear Amish Man,

I am pretty sure you will never read this considering I parked my car next to your horse and buggy this morning. I'm guessing that means you don't have a computer at home. Or electricity. I just want to thank you for officially starting my summer. The corn I bought from you this morning, although a little more pricey than the grocery store was out of this world delicious! I am kicking myself for only buying eight ears, and not a full dozen. You told me that it was fresh picked this morning and I really believe it was because it was fantastic! Best. Corn. Ever. Little did I know that The Son would devour two ears. He is not one to eat any sort of vegetable, even if it is a starchy one. He even asked for more but I had already eaten four and The Husband had two so there were none left for my poor child. I guess that won't win me any "mother of the year" awards, huh?

I will be back next week after The Son's karate class and I will definitely be buying at least a dozen. I hope you'll be there with your yummy fresh ears of corn just piled up on the ground waiting for me. I liked how you joked that you'd sell me the whole pile if I wanted it when I asked if I could just buy eight ears, your friendliness and Amish sense of humor (have you thought of trying a career in stand-up comedy?)  added to the enjoyment of my corn.  The Husband has not yet tried the tomatoes but I'll let you know how he likes them next week. Tell your wife that I will also pick up a package of her lovely home made peanut butter cookies, I meant to buy some today and they looked delicious but somehow I got distracted. If they're half as good as the corn, the whole CityFamilyCountryFamily will be very happy.

It was a pleasure doing business with you, hope to see you again next week.

Sincerely,
CityMommaCountryMomma... emphasis on the "country" in this case.

Swimming is hard.

I went swimming today for two hours! Yep, two hours! It was fun but hard. I plan on continuing because I know it's got to be good for me, most things that are hard are good for you, right? I am taking a swim lesson at the Y where I work. Yes, I teach swimming but I teach it to little, little kids, babies practically. Some of my students are in fact babies so my main objective is getting them used to the water and teaching them not to drown. My boss recommended that the new swim instructors take lessons to refresh our swim skills and help us see how it is for our students to learn. I'm liking it thus far.

When I was a pre-teen/teen, I took swimming lessons. I remember riding my bike (no helmet, no pads, we didn't know about safety back in the day) to the LPRA before it officially opened to take them. Just so you know, LPRA stands for Levittown Public Recreation Association, we had some good times at that pool, good times... Anyway, I took a lot of lessons there, diving, swimming, all sorts of stuff. I was pretty good. I also took lessons in Jr. High because our school had a pool. Do they still do that today? I remember loving the swim lesson, especially when we had free swim but hating the fact that we only had a few minutes to get dressed, dry our hair and reapply our Cover Girl blue eyeshadow and Wet 'n Wild lip gloss. Not to mention getting that pesky "The Clicker" butane curling iron heated up to "re-feather" our hair. I know I'm digressing but what I'm trying to say is that I was a pretty decent swimmer, or so I thought.

Cut to today, we're working on the backstroke. Evidently, the swim instructors at the LPRA and at the Neshaminy public schools didn't know how to do the backstroke because I realized I never learned it. Sure, we did the elementary back stroke where you swim on your back like a frog but we never did THE Backstroke where you actually swim and do strokes while on your back. I had issues. I kept getting water up my nose when my arm came up and then I would choke and have to stop for a second or two, it was not a pretty sight, not pretty at all. Apparently, you have to rotate your body, flip your hand, kick your legs and move your arms in sync while not inhaling the water that washes up over you. I need a lot of practice.

After my class, I went up to "the big pool" and swam the length of the pool trying out my new backstroke "skills" as well as some freestyle we worked on last week. When I got tired I just did some Good Old-Fashioned Kicking with the kickboard. The pool is 25 yards in length and a mile is 1760 yards so I would have to do 70ish lengths to do a mile. I didn't come close to that but I bet I did somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 a mile, not too bad for my first try I think. Next time I'll count for sure. I like swimming because while I was doing it, my muscles didn't hurt and I felt really limber. I'm a little sore now though but I'm sure I'll get better as I do it more frequently, it's nice to add something new to my workout repertoire

Ok, I'm more than a "little sore". Where's the Advil?

Another busy one...

Unfortunately, I am not good at thinking up witty and/or profound blog posts as of late. So many of the women I read are always so clever and funny, not to mention cute. I guess I should be happy to have one out of those three things down. I'll leave it up to you to figure out which one it is. ;)

We're busy, busy, busy again today and I shouldn't be on here right now. I have a swimming lesson (one that I'm taking) at 9:15 and The Son has camp. I'm going to try to work out after the lesson, my cough seems to finally have subsided. (Worst Cold Ever.) My friend Fabienne is coming over with her kids this afternoon. She's French. From Paris. So having her as a friend makes me feel really international and worldly. She also likes to scrapbook and teaches swimming and her son is just a little older than my son and they love each other so it's all good. We're hoping our friend Lynn will also come, she's a French teacher. I know no French except for that "Lady Marmalade" song. We'll be all covered if I need to ask either one to go to bed with me. Usually they speak English around me though, they're considerate that way.

This weekend should be a little more relaxing then the past ones have been. Hope you're all having a great day out there in Blogland!

It's a Kingdom for Kids...

Dutch Wonderland! I don't have a lot of time before I have to pick up The Son from camp and run a few errands so I'm just going to post a couple of the pictures from our Dutch Wonderland trip the other day. It was fun! We'll definitely be going back again. We didn't even get to the water area, The Son doesn't know about that part. Next time...

OK, this one is hilarious and embarrassing at the same time. I look ridiculous but truly, that ride was FUN! I'd risk embarrassment for fun like that again any time. Don't you wish you were there? I'll post a few more pictures later, I have a couple more cute ones of The Son that have to be turned in iphoto first!

I haven't been able to blog too much lately...

because I've been very busy with this:

this:

and unfortunately, this:

Teaching swimming, taking The Son to camp and going to the pool in the afternoons causes a surprising amount of laundry. Perhaps I just need a few more beach towels? It's 10 AM and The Son is at camp right now, I'm doing this post and then I'll be going upstairs to give myself a pedicure and get all my stuff together to go to my friend Jen's house for a playgroup this afternoon and then I have work at 4. We won't be back home until after 7:00. It's going to be a busy day!

My  12 year old neighbor has officially been hired as Ziggy's puppysitter. She comes in a few times a day to play with him and take him out. She loves dogs and is really good with him. It makes me feel less guilty about being gone all day and she seems to enjoy it as well. Thank goodness for nice neighbors!

Speaking of neighbors, I just found out that one of my former neighbors, took her kids and left her husband. I was shocked to hear that but actually quite pleased that she's finally standing up for herself. As I know I've said before, many women I know aren't as blessed as I am when it comes to husbands. I know it sucks to "break up" a family but at the same time, it sucks to be treated like crap and to have your kids see it. I haven't talked to this neighbor since I moved but I'm really proud to hear what she's done even though I know it's got to be hard. I didn't think she had it in her! (and no, it's not who you're thinking Sister) I'll be thinking of you and your boys "Former Neighbor!"

Have a blogalicious day everyone!

Aquatic Adventures camp...

is almost planned. I've been working diligently since last night. I think I have put every water activity, game and or relay that would be appropriate for first through sixth graders in the camp. It should be a really good time. I turn it in to my boss tomorrow. I will resume regular blogging with pictures and such after that time.

The Color Purple...

was fantastic. The Husband and I really enjoyed it. We see a lot of shows, in fact, for those of you who don't know, we met doing a show. Yes, we used to be thespians. (heh, heh, heh, she said thespian) You know who was in it? LaToya London from American Idol season III. She played Nettie, Celie's sister. She was great, but didn't really look like I thought she would, perhaps I just don't remember her looks that well.  It was cool the way they made the main characters start out really young and look much, much older by the end of the show without ever looking over done or fake. The costumes were beautiful too, I really enjoyed how the styles spanned many, decades. The woman who played Sofia, (the part The Oprah played in the movie) was so great, I think many would say she was their favorite character in the show. I guess that's no coincidence considering The Oprah is one of the producers. It wasn't a show that we would  probably call a favorite, we tend to like things a little funnier and perhaps more edgy, (think "Urinetown, "Avenue Q",  "Rent", "Wicked", etc.) but I did really love it and would certainly recommend it to anyone.

Sunday fun day....

Sort of. The Husband and I are going to see "The Color Purple" at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia this afternoon. We have season tickets which was great when we lived in The City, now it's just kind of a pain since we're about an hour away. We won't be getting season tickets again any time soon I don't think. I am really excited to see this show though, I hear great things about it and we have really great seats so I'm sure I'll have fun.

The MIL leaves tomorrow, it seems like she just got here. We really don't have enough time to do stuff when she comes which kind of sucks. I guess it's good that we all get along though, right?

Dutch Wonderland was REALLY fun! The Son had a great time and I have some excellent pictures. It was really sentimental for me because I remembered going there with my parents as a kid. Some of the same stuff is still there and it was really cool to see it from an adult perspective 30 some odd years later. I really missed my mom, not that that's anything different than usual, it was just kind of hard because I know she would have enjoyed being with us that day, so much. We all missed her. (MIL was good friends with her too.)

I still have to plan my camp, I'm supposed to turn it in tomorrow and I haven't really even started it yet. Blah. I need to get to work on that. I do have the plan from last year so I'm just going to use that as my basic framework.

The Son goes to "Kids in the Kitchen" camp tomorrow and I'm hoping to get back to the gym to workout, I'll be trying a nice long walk with the puppy this morning to see if I can manage to keep my lungs inside my chest.

Have a great day everyone out there in blogland.

So I went to the doctor...

and there is nothing wrong with me. Nothing other than a Bad Cold that is. He did say that I might have some allergies too going along with it. He told me to take Zyrtec or Claritin and prescribed me a cough syrup with codine in it. I used that last night and it really did help but I can only use it at night since it makes me very sleepy. I got the allergy medicine too but I'm afraid to take it in case it makes me feel weird and we're doing some fun stuff today.

I have a swim lesson in 45 minutes so I'll be heading there shortly. I hope it goes well, I haven't exercised in over a week because of this cough. I think this will be a good way to get back on track though.

When I get home, The Son, The MIL and I are heading out to Dutch Wonderland. It's a  little theme park for kids, I went there as a kid, probably more than 30 years ago. I hear it hasn't changed much so I'm kind of excited. I may end up buying season passes if it's really good, we're not all that far away and I didn't get the Sesame Place passes this year since we've moved so much farther away. The Son was up at 6:50 AM because he was so excited. I hope he makes it through the day without any melt downs. If we're lucky, he'll nap on the way.

Have a great day everyone. I'll take lots of pictures of our adventures today.

Stuff we're doing today...

So, I'm not quite as grumpy as I was yesterday but I'm still coughing a lot. It sucks. I do have that lovely doctor's appointment this evening, maybe they'll tell me I actually have something that can be treated as opposed to a Plain Old Cold that I have to continue to suffer with. Is it wrong to be hoping you have bronchitis?

MIL got here last night, we're taking The Son to his drama class and then going to McDonald's for him and SaladWorks for us and then heading over to the park for a picnic lunch and play time because it's a beautiful day today. My appointment is at 5:30 so I'll drop them off at home before I head there.

Not much going on. Hope everyone out there is having a lovely day!

I'm just saying...

Just a couple random thoughts because I'm still feeling kind of yucky and my brain isn't functioning properly. I DO have a doctor's appointment tomorrow evening, that's how you know I'm really feeling ill because I never get sick enough to feel that I should visit the doctor Anyway, here goes...

1. I HATE music on blogs. HATE it. If I want to listen to music while I'm reading, I'll put my own music on thank you very much. It's a shame because there are some really good blogs out there that I'd read and comment on regularly but I cannot stand the music. I know I can wait and turn it off myself but that just takes forever! It's 45 seconds of my life that I'll never get back and meanwhile, I have to listen to someone else's favorite tune that makes my ears want to bleed. One of my favorite bloggers who shall remain nameless but let's just say she's a really good decorator, just made her music player one that you can turn on yourself if you want to, I cannot tell you how happy that made me because although her music choices were something I might listen to if I were in the mood to listen to music, I don't like listening to music while I read. She made me happy the day she did that. Now for those of you who love music on blogs, that's fine too, keep it on there, it's YOUR blog, it should be the way YOU want it but I'm sorry to say that I will not be able to visit you on a regular basis, only when I have some extra time to spare where I can turn off your music player. I'm just saying...

2. If you're going to teach swimming and you know that you are going to be barefoot in front of A LOT of people on a regular basis, please do something about your toe nails. No one expects a perfectly pedicured pair of feet all the time (although it's nice) however, long brown dirty toenails are not attractive on a woman (or a man for that matter) I don't care if you pride yourself on being a "nature girl." I'm pretty sure that Mother Nature herself has lovely soft little feet with pretty trimmed and clean toenails, she probably doesn't wear polish but that's OK, she's Mother Nature. A pair of nail clippers, a nail file and perhaps a nice bottle of polish don't cost very much, and toe nails stay polished a long time, even when you spend a lot of time in the water, trust me, I know. It's worth the time and money to spare us all the sight of your hideous hooves. Many of these kids are scared enough when they come to swim class, they don't need the sight of your feet to scare them even more. OH, and you might want to think about shaving, or waxing or at least plucking. We have two eyebrows, not one (You're not Bert) and women should not have mustaches and last but not least, a little "personal grooming" might help too. No one expects a swim teacher to look beautiful and perfectly made up all the times but a little care in your personal appearance might be nice for those of us around  you. I'm just saying...

Lastly...
3. You are = "You're" NOT  "your."
A lot is two words, not one.
Cannot is one word, not two.
When you pluralize something you DO NOT need an apostrophe
To, too and two are three entirely different words with different meanings, learn them.
...same with they're, there and their.

Now, do not think me harsh, I know everyone makes mistakes, mistakes are OK once in a while. It's just when I try to read a blog that has hundreds of mistakes per post that are simple common errors that could be fixed with rereading and spell check that I go a little nutty. It's probably the elementary school teacher in me. I know I tend to over use the ellipses a bit too much  and I'm sure that bothers someone, somewhere, who knows if they're reading my blog though? I just want to tell people to have some pride in your blog and in your ability to write without a myriad of grammatical errors. I'm just saying... (there's that darn ellipses again ;) )

Remember that...

dandelion post a couple months back? Well, it seems The Son is still a little hung up on dandelions. He said the nicest thing to me yesterday, for some reason it really touched me.

The Son: Momma, you know why there's dandelions in the world?
Me: No Honey, why?
The Son: So that everyone can make wishes.

Where do they come up with this stuff? It was just so sweet. Gosh, I love that kid.

The Son is smart!

He must take after The Husband! ha ha!

I took The Son to a "Preschool Drama" class yesterday at the Y and when I picked him up, the teacher told me that she read the book to the class one time and then they made puppets to go with the book. The second time, when they used the puppets to act out the book, The Son helped her read it to the class. She was really impressed that he could read that well. I felt great about it of course. We do read a lot to The Son and we have a children's book library that could rival our local library, I just love children's books! I guess it's finally paid off! I'm really proud of him.

As we were leaving, The Son told his teacher that tomorrow he was going to make a puppet of an indricothere. She had no idea what he was talking about and I had to explain that an indricothere is a prehistoric mammal that The Son has been watching a show about lately. I think she thought we were a little nutty in our house, but not in a bad way. ;)

Happy Father's Day!

I got up this morning  with The Son and prepared The Husband a "surprise" breakfast of crunchy french toast and some sausage. (The Crunchy French Toast was DEEE-Licious! I used Challah bread and regular cornflakes and real Canadian Maple Syrup...Hi Nikki!) Unfortunately, The Husband still had to make the coffee because I suck at it and it never comes out right for me. Now, breakfast wasn't really a surprise for The Husband but The Son thought it was and he gets a big kick out of that.

I got The Husband a couple things for Father's Day this year. Besides the new puppy that we picked up last weekend, he got this t-shirt, these collar stays that he says he's been looking for "forever" and a pack of dinosaur Hot Wheels cars from The Son. It's hilarious when The Son picks things out like that to give his Daddy and three seconds later says, "Maybe Daddy will share with me." Of course he does.

We got my father some nice things for Father's Day too but I know that he reads this blog so I will have to wait to post what they are, I hope you like them Pop-pop! My Dad's coming over this afternoon and we're having steaks and shrimp on the grill for dinner and I'm making my first ever pecan pie for dessert. I am known to make an excellent homemade pie crust if I do say so myself  so it should turn out pretty well. I'll keep you all posted in case anyone who reads (does anyone read?) likes to bake.

To end for now, I'll post a couple pictures of my two favorite Daddies ever with their favorite little guy! Happy Father's Day Guys!

I changed my blog header...

as I'm sure you can see. It got me thinking about our move. Everyone told me I'd miss The City and that I'd want to move back in a year but honestly, I just don't see that happening. There's a couple things I miss but MOST of them are contrasted by something here in the country that's just as good. For example, I miss being able to walk places and run a lot of errands without buckling/unbuckling a car seat 47 times. However, now when I do run errands, there's a parking spot for my car so that actually seems like a luxury. I miss being able to walk to the bars and restaurants in my neighborhood because it was always nice to be able to walk home after a few drinks. I won't have ANY drinks if I'm driving...ever, so that's taken some getting used to. The plus side of that is, we're spending a lot less money now that we're eating (and drinking ;) ) at home. I do miss my friends and I don't talk to them nearly as much as I should, that part's been difficult. They could never be replaced but I am very grateful that I have made some wonderful friends here already that have really made this area also seem like home.

Things about the country that I love are:
- our new house. It might not have the "character" or history of the old house and I thought that would bother me but, lo and behold, it doesn't!
- my laundry room.
- my craft room
- the birds and deer I can see from my windows.
- the YMCA, not that they don't have Ys in the city but ours is just so nice and "family oriented" here. It's going to be great for The Son to grow up there.
- the excellent public schools. (one of our BIG reasons for moving here)
- The Husband is much happier in his job.
- Mushrooms! hee hee.
- the safety in this area, Our neighborhood in The City was certainly one of the safest but even so, sometimes things got a little bit scary.

I suppose I could go on and on but I'll stop there. I'm just so glad that things are working out and that our family is settling in here without too much nostalgia for the past.

Boo, Hiss, I'm sick!

I feel terrible. I started getting a cold about five days ago and thought it wasn't going to manifest into much but alas, that was wrong. Today has been horrible, I'm tired, achy, sweaty, stuffy and coughy (are those dwarves?) The Son isn't feeling that great either. It sucks, I'm rarely sick and I don't deal well with it.

I went into work this morning and then had the brilliant idea that working out would make me feel better. It didn't.

The Son was supposed to go to karate this afternoon but we were still napping so we didn't make it. I ate breakfast and then had no appetite at all, I did just eat a bowl of oatmeal and at least that tasted good. Me having no appetite, that's how I know I'm sick.

I've just come on the computer to see what all my favorite blog ladies are up to and I've read a lot but I just don't have the energy to comment. I will next time, I promise. If I don't start feeling better soon, I might do one (or more) of the following:

1- cough up a lung.
2- strangle a puppy.
3- be mean to a four-year-old who doesn't deserve it.
4- fall asleep again.

Tomorrow is another day, I have a meeting at work that I must attend but that's at 3. I hope to feel better. Until then, feel sorry for me.

He's only eight weeks old...

but evidently Ziggy likes "Kung Fu Panda". I mean REALLY likes Kung Fu Panda. The Son has a stuffed toy that I got for him (you know because he's a karate master and all) and I just found Ziggy with it...let's just say, he was getting rather "frisky". Poor panda. I rescued it and Ziggy's sleeping now. Typical.

Conversation with The Son (and The Husband)

The Son: Mommy, do boys have blogs?
Me: Sure, I guess some boys have blogs.
The Son: I want a blog.
Me: Oh OK, well, when Mommy writes on her blog, I write about things like you and our family and stuff around the house. I even call you "The Son."
The Husband: Son like S-O-N, not S-U-N. So what would your blog be about?
The Son: I think like bugs and dinosaurs. OH! and sharks too, definitely sharks.
Me: Sounds good, what are you going to call your blog?
The Son: (thinking with a big grin) The Earth
Me: The Earth?
The Son: Yeah.
Me: What are you going to call Mommy on your blog?
The Son: (thinking again and replying oh so sweetly) My Love.
Me: Really? You're going to call me "My Love?" Thank you, I really like that. (Kisses all over

I'll take it! I know that in a few years, he won't feel that way but right now, I don't mind being called "My Love" by my sweet four year old, I don't know when he'll fit in blogging about me when he's blogging about bugs, dinosaurs and sharks but that's OK. It's the thought that counts.

BIG news!

I had to put Ziggy in the laundry room with his kennel so that I could go take a shower since I cannot rely on The Son to watch him...obviously. Guess what? NO CRYING! I cannot believe it. I am SO happy. He whined and squeaked for maybe five minutes and then all of a sudden....quiet!

Maybe we'll actually be able to put him in there for bed tonight. Last night wasn't the best night. I won't go into details but trust me, it wasn't good. For the record though, The Husband HAS been wearing a t-shirt to bed since the first night's incident so it didn't involve that!

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Busy, busy day!

We have a lot going on here today and that means Ziggy is going to have to be alone for the first time since he got here. He's not going to like that but we don't have any other options...I suppose he'll get over it.

I have a meeting at the Y with "my trainer" (aka my friend Jen, who just happens to be a personal trainer at the Y) she's going to help me figure out a new program for my work-outs since I really need an update. I have a bad cough right now so I probably won't do much cardio but at least I'll be doing something. The Son will go to Kids' Corner.

After the Y, I am taking The Son to a pool party at one of his little girlfriend's houses, the moms are invited too of course. The thing is, it's going to be 98 degrees today. Will that be fun? I don't know but I guess I'll find out! ha ha! That lasts until about 2:45 then we'll come home and check on the new puppy.

I am planning on making a recipe in my crock pot tonight called "Crock pot rigatoni". I found it on someone's blog and it sounded really good but of course, I cannot remember whose blog it was so I just "googled" it and found it there. If it was YOUR blog and you're reading, let me know, I'll link you! ;)

After we check on the pup and get the crock pot going, The Son has karate. He's been doing a little better with his listening, well at least on Saturday he did. Mind you, saying he's doing "a little better with his listening" still doesn't mean he's a good listener. The kid talks so much, I don't know where he gets that? He's so funny to watch though  because the child is just NOT all that coordinated, poor thing. He must take after his father.

So, that's our busy day for today, probably not all that exciting but I can guarantee we'll be sleeping well tonight....saying that brings me to a mini-update on Ziggy for you. Yes, he slept in the bed with us last night,  you know he did. He did pretty well though and slept from about 11 until 4:30 until The Husband took him out. I think that could be considered "sleeping through the night" don't you?  Now we just have to work on getting him to sleep in that darn kennel. Baby steps people, or should I say puppy steps?

Have a great day!

Let's try this one more time...

Bath time!

"HUH? Who me?"

"I'll help you to feel at home little brother."

"Whatever...I can't be bothered."

"Help me, help me, I'm scared. Maybe if I don't look at it, it will go away."

I'm tired...

and I'm a sucker. Our new little guy had issues last night, big issues that resulted in him sleeping in bed with us. (That's where the sucker part comes in.) The Husband and I had grand plans of Ziggy curling up quietly and sleeping in his kennel next to our bed last night. Ziggy had a different grand plan. We tried, we really did but as soon as he got in the kennel, he cried...NO, make that SCREAMED like he was terrified. Which he might have been. We didn't want The Son to wake up and we were tired so we let him get in bed with us where he promptly fell asleep. The good news is that he was pretty good most of the night, except for the times when he tried to nest in my hair and, for the time when he might have scarred The Husband for life by "thinking he was his Mommy." I didn't go into details with The Husband regarding that one but I think you can use your imagination.

We have been putting him in the kennel on and off today and he continues to scream but I dare say it might be a little, bitty bit better than it was last night. I never had The Son in bed with me and Iago and Vinnie are but I'll be darned if this new little one will be (at least not permanently) Remember, Iago and Vinnie weigh a total of 24 pounds or so, Ziggy might get up to 75 pounds. NO WAY, NO HOW is he making himself comfortable in my bed. I'm not kidding myself, he might be there again tonight but not on a regular basis... really, I swear.

I have some pictures that I've been trying to post but for some reason, blogger is not cooperating. I'll come back and try it again later.

He's Here...

I'm just posting a quick picture of Ziggy so that certain family members who are excited to see our newest family member can see him. I have lots more of course but I'll have to do those later. He's a real sweet puppy and seems to be doing well so far. Iago couldn't care less and DaVinci is scared of him, I'm sure you can understand though, look how scary he is:

Isn't he sweet? I'll post more pictures later, or tomorrow in the AM! Have a good night.

The big day is here!

Tomorrow is the day that we are going to get our new puppy. We have to drive three hours north to get him which kind of sucks but it's not like I can just send The Husband, this is something the whole family (at least the humans in the family) have to be there for. I hope our older dogs aren't mad when we get home, they're generally nice to other dogs but then again, we don't bring other dogs into our home to stay.

I think we'll have about six male pups to choose from. I'm actually glad it's not more because I cannot imagine how difficult it's going to be to choose, when we saw them last time they were all little balls of cuteness. I think we'll be surprised how much bigger they are after three (or is it four?) weeks. I can't wait to see them.

I wonder, is it difficult for the Mommas to give up their babies or am I just anthropomorphising the dogs? Either way, it kind of makes me sad. I hope we don't have to see the Moms...that might make it easier...at least on me.

I think we've decided on the name Zigfried (Ziggy for short) we don't have a middle name yet and we sill decide on that after we choose our pup. We might want to use the mom or dad's name somehow when naming our new guy. We're not sure yet. The Son mentioned today that he wanted to name the dog Thomas which I actually like a lot even though it's not German (The dog is a German Shorthair Pointer for those of you who haven't been reading this blog regularly) However, The Son has also mentioned that we should name the dog Popcorn, Blueberry or Ball so I don't know if he's the best one to ask.

One more picture of the day we went up to see the pups. We really liked this little guy, who knows if he'll be the one we end up with though, we couldn't actually choose on that day. All the dogs were beautiful though so I know we won't be disappointed. I'll keep you all updated and post pictures of our new guy as soon as I can.
